Deacon Blues Restaurant – About Us
Deacon Blues, the name of the restaurant originated from a Steely Dan song.
Two friends (Ron Wilkinson and David Liney) were travelling home from South Dakota to Watervliet in 1978, listened to the song and Ron said…”if he ever opened a restaurant he would call it Deacon Blues and the rest is history.
Deacon Blues Restaurant (formerly the Welcome Inn) opened in July, 1979 owned by Ron and Helen Wilkinson. A small community restaurant with working class clientele with a staff of family and close friends. Over the years developed a business which includes catering on premise and other locations.
